To Change the Education Paradigms

| November 29, 2010

In Response to a video about Chinese School on Vialogue- I find this video inspiring and answered many questions/ discussions of the Chinese School video- though this video is of Education in America.

Sir Ken Robinson, world-renowned education and creativity expert and recipient of the RSA’s Benjamin Franklin award gave the talk at the RSA.

Below are the few key points of his talk
1. Our public education system was born of the industrial revolution. Sitting still in class all day is just conditioning for being bored at a repetitive assembly line job.
2. To change the Education Paradigms we need to think differently about human capacity and get over the old conception of Academic, non-Academic, Abstract, Theoretical…etc
3. Most great learning happens in groups- Collaboration is the stuff of growth.
4. The current education system is crucially due to the culture of our institution: the Habits of our institution and the habitats they occupy.
